Answer by AnlytcPhil(1806)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let S = the number of successes
Let F = the number of failures

Then
                S
Probability = —————
               S+F

Odds in favor = S to F = S:F

Odds against = F to S = F:S

You are given

The odds against an event are 49 to 2.
So F = 49,  S = 2

Substitute to find the probability.
