Question 1089688: Please help me solve the following problem: From a parliamentary constituency, a sample of 100 was asked whether or not they would vote Swapo or National Democrats candidate. It is determined that 40 from the constituency sample prefer Swapo candidate.
What is the standard error of p?

Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

x = 40 is the number of successes
n = 100 is the sample size

Sample proportion
p = x/n
p = 40/100
p = 0.4

Standard Error(SE)
SE = sqrt(p*(1-p)/n)
SE = sqrt(0.4*(1-0.4)/100)
SE = 0.04898979485567

The standard error of p is approximately 0.04898979485567
