There are 14 boys and 16 girls in Mrs. Kellogg's 4th grade class. A picnic committee of three people is selected at random from the total group of students in the class.
a) What is the probability that all the committee members are boys?
b) What is the probability that the committee will contain at least one girl?
-----------
At least 1 girl means 1, or 2 or 3 girls.
P(1 girl) = 1/30
P(2 girls = (1/30)*(1/29)
P(3 girls = (1/30)*(1/29)*(1/28)
----
--> P(>=1) = the sum of the 3 P's
===============
a) What is the probability that all the committee members are boys?
---
Look at b)
Can you figure it out from that?
