Question 1077925: Supposed that an IQ score has a bell shape distribution with population of 100 and standard deviation of 15. A person with an IQ score greater than 145 is considered a genius. Does the empirical rule support this statement? Explain.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
That would be 3 sd s above the mean, which is in the 99.86th percentile or the top 14 in 10000 or top 1.4 in a thousand. The operational definition of genius has to be clarified. This is certainly possible, but then we would say there are 448,000 geniuses in the country.
Answer: consistent with some definitions of genius.
