Three airlines serve International airport. Airline A has 60% of all the scheduled flights, airline B has 30% and airline C has the remainder. Their on-time rates are 80%, 60% and 40% respectively. Define the event O as "an airline arrives on time".
If a plane has just left 40 minutes late, what is the probability that it was airline A?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
=====On time====Late====total
A======48========12======60
B======18========12======30
C=======6=========4======10
Totals=72========28=====100
If the plane were late (28 possibilities), 12 of them are A, for a probability of 12/28=3/7=42.9%
