Question 1075673: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 42.8% of U.S. households connected to the Internet using a cable modem in 2013. If households are called at random, what is the probability that the first house with a cable modem will be contacted on the third call?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the third house called is the first with a cable modem, then the first two didn't have cable modems, or 100-42.8=57.2% of all households don't have cable modems. So:
.572 x .572 x .428=0.140034752
Which means there is a 14.0034752% of contacting the first house with a cable modem on the third call. ☺☺☺☺
