Question 1067711: A vertical line is drawn through a normal distribution at z = -1.00. How much of the distribution is located between the line and the mean?
What z-score separates the lowest 10% of the distribution from the rest?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A vertical line is drawn through a normal distribution at z = -1.00. How much of the distribution is located between the line and the mean?
That area is the same as the area between z = 0 and z = +1.
Use your z-chart and you will see that area is approximately 34%

What z-score separates the lowest 10% of the distribution from the rest?
That value is the same as the z-score that has 40% of the area under
the curve between the mean and that z-score.
Use your z-chart to find the z-score corresponding to 0.4000
Or use your TI-84+ to get the following answer::
Ans: invNorm(0.9) = 1.2816
