Question 1062833: India plays two matches each with Sri Lanka and South Africa. In any match the probability of India
getting points 0, 1, 2 are 0.45, 0.05 and 0.50 respectively. Assuming that the outcomes are
independent, find the probability of India getting at least 7 points.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
India is playing 4 matches, and the maximum number of points possible is 8.
The probability of getting 8 is 0.5^4=0.0625.
The probability of getting 7 is getting 2 points in 3 matches and 1 point in the other.
There are 4 ways that can happen, getting one point in one of the four matches.
The probability of getting 7 points is 0.05*0.5^3=0.000625
Multiply that by 4 is 0.0025
Add that and the probability of getting 8 points and it is 0.065
