Question 1051903: Asking for assistance
As shown above, a classic deck of cards is made up of 52 cards, 26 are black, 26 are red. Each color is split into two suits of 13 cards each (clubs and spades are black and hearts and diamonds are red). Each suit is split into 13 individual cards (Ace, 2-10, Jack, Queen, and King).
If you select a card at random, what is the probability of getting:
1) A(n) 4 of Spade s?
2) A Diamond or Heart?
3) A number smaller than 7 (counting the ace as a 1)?

I already answered this. It was Question 1051823.
The probability of anything is the number of possible successful outcomes divided by the total number of outcomes. For a single draw from a deck of 52 cards, the denominator is 52 since there are 52 different cards that you could possibly draw. Each of your questions has a different number of possible successful outcomes, namely the number of cards that are the 4 of spades, the number of diamonds plus the number of hearts, and the number of cards numbered 1 through 6 (hint: there are 4 of each). These are your numerators. Remember to reduce your fraction if possible.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
