Question 1051015: Please help me understand this problem:
For the X,Y data below, compute:
a. r and determine if it is significantly different from zero.
b. the slope of the regression line and test if it differs significantly from zero.
c. the 95% confidence interval for the slope.
I'm lost.

Please REpost with Data Clearly showing x and y values
For ex:
I. Generally, using data given and an Excel spreadsheet: a Scatter Plot/ showing trend line and R^2 is done
Here R is significantly different from zero as well as is the slope of the trend line, m = 2.57

c. the 95% confidence interval for the slope.
•Compute margin of error (ME): ME = critical value * standard error
Use Calculator or Excel to find the critical value(generally 1.96 for 95% confidence interval of a very large sample size)
|
standard error can be found using Data and in Excel: STEYX function
In this example, SE = 4.7
|
In this ex: n = 10 (Degree of Freedom (n-2)
critical value t = 2.3 Use Calculator or stattrek.com
ME = 2.57 ± (2.3)(4.7)
ME = 2.57 ± 10.81
-8.24 < m < 13.31
Hope this helps:
Here's a great summary with an ex, as well.
