Need to Know:
Type I Error involves the rejection of a null hypothesis that is actually true.
There is a value of alpha probability that we will reject a true null hypothesis.
alpha level of confidence = .01
a. What is the probability that you will make a Type I error
given that the null hypothesis is true? .01
(the confidence level tells one what the probability of making a Type I error is.)
b. What is the probability that you will make a Type I error given that the null
hypothesis is false?
By Definition: Type I Error did not occur then ...
P(Type I error given that the null hypothesis is false) = 0
