1. Independent events. The outcome of the coin toss has no effect on the outcome of the die roll and vice versa. Hence, the probability of both is the product of the individual probabilities. A fair coin has a probability of a head of 1/2. The probability of a 6 on a die roll (presuming a fair 6-sided die) is 1/6.
