Question 1038669: An automobile manufacturing plant produced 32 vehicles today: 10 were sedans, 11 were vans, and 11 were trucks. Plant managers are going to choose two of these vehicles for thorough inspection. The first vehicle will be chosen at random, and then the second vehicle will be chosen at random from the remaining vehicles. What is the probability that two sedans will be selected?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
there are 10 sedans out of 32 for the first draw, therefore the probability that the first vehicle drawn will be a sedan is 10/32.
there are 9 sedans left out of 31 for the second draw, therefore the probability that the second vehicle drawn will be a sedan is 9/31.
the probability that a sedan is drawn on the first draw and then on the second draw is therefore 10/32 * 9/31 = 90/992.
