if females averaged 60 in an examination, find the mean examination for the male student.

let m = the average for the male students
= 75
multiply both sides by 70
50m + 1200 = 75(70)
50m = 5250 - 1200
50m = 4050
m = 4050/50
m = 81 is the average for male students
