Question 1037454: A machine used in a production process is set up correctly 97% of the time. Given that the machine is set up correctly, only 5% of the items it produces are defective, while 95% are not defective. On the other hand, if the machine is set up incorrectly, 60% of the items it produces are defective, while only 40% are not defective.
What is the probability that a randomly selected item from the production process will not be defective? Construct a tree diagram.
I really need help with a tree diagram for this question, please

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the tree diagram is shown below.

$$$

the probability that a randomly chosen item will be defective = .0485 + .0180 = .0665.

the probability that a randomly chosen item will not be defective is equal to 1 - .0665 = .9335.

that's the same as .9215 + .0120 = .9335.
