Question 1031837: Problem #1
Suppose two dice are rolled. Let A be the event that the sum of the two dice is 7. Find an event B related to numbers on the dice such that A and B are
a. independent;
b. dependent.
Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a. B := the first die shows a 1. Then P(B) = 1/6, and P(B|A) also equals 1/6.
b. B := the sum of the two dice is greater than 6. Then P(B) = 6/36 + 5/36 + ... + 2/36 = 21/36, while P(B|A) = 1.
