Question 1028462: In Major League Baseball, there are five teams in the Eastern
Division of the National League: Atlanta, Florida, New York,
Philadelphia, and Washington. How many different orders of finish
are there for these five teams? How many different orders of
finish are possible for the first four positions?

Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Any of 5 teams can finish first.
That leaves 4 possibilities for second.
That leaves 3 for third.
That leaves 2 for fourth.
And one for last.
So the total possibilities are 5*4*3*2*1 = 120 ways they can finish.
The same would be true for the first four positions since there would only be one left for last.
