6327 X 7 is about 42,000 (6000 x 7)
7000*7=49,000. But 6327 is closer to 6000, so the estimate is closer to 42,000 than it is to 49,000.
6742*8
first estimate: 7000*8=56,000 (too high)
second estimate: recognize that it is 8*6 3/4 thousands (6750 is 6 3/4 thousands)
8*6=48; 8*(3/4)=6
48+6=54,000, very close to true value.
