Question 1012851: A manufacturing plant produces a special kind of light bulb. Each light bulb produced has a 0.040 probability of being defective. Five light bulbs are chosen at random from the production line. To the nearest thousandth, what is the probability that exactly two bulbs will be defective?
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Probability is 5 C2, or 10 different ways 2 bulbs can be defective* (0.04)^2(0.96)^3
That equals 0.014.
This is a sensible answer. Low probability that a bulb is defective, and expected value is 0.2 bulbs defective from 5 chosen, so 2 would be highly unlikely.
