Question 1011189: In a labour management discussion it was brought up that
workers at a certain large plant take on average 32.6
minutes to get to work. If a random sample of 60 workers
took on the average 33.8 minutes with a standard deviation
of 6.1 minutes, can we reject the null hypothesis µ 6.1/sqrt(60= 32.6 in
a favor of the alternative hypothesis µ > 32.6 at the 0.05
level of significance?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ho=mean < or =32.6 min
Ha=mean >32.6 min
alpha=0.05, 1 way test
Test statistic is a t distribution with 59 df
Critical value is t>1.671
t=(33.8-32.6)/6.1/sqrt(60)=1.52
fail to reject null hypothesis at the 0.05 level.
Conclude that the time may be 32.6 min or less.
