Question 1009836: Assume that IQ score for a certain population are approximately N (μ, 100). To test H0:μ = 110 against the one sided alternative hypothesis H1 :μ > 110, we take a random sample of size n= 16 from this population and observe the mean to be 113.5. Do we accept or reject the null at the 5% or 10% significance levels?

Assume that IQ score for a certain population are approximately N (μ, 100). To test H0:μ = 110 against the one sided alternative hypothesis H1 :μ > 110, we take a random sample of size n= 16 from this population and observe the mean to be 113.5. Do we accept or reject the null at the 5% or 10% significance levels?
----
t(113.5) = (113.5-110)/[100/sqrt(16) = 0.14
p-value = P(t > 0.14 when df = 15) = tcdf(0.14,100,15) = 5
----
Since the p-value is greater than 5%, reject Ho.
Sint e p-value is greater than 10%, reject Ho.
