Question 27997: i am suppossed to simplify this rational expression. i did a whole page of them just fine but this one has had me stuck for over an hour. can you please help me 6x^3y^2-51x^2y^2-9xy^2 over 4x^4y+4x^3y+x^2y
i factored a 3xy^2out of the top and a x^2y out of the bottom. i know i should have 3xy^2(2x^2-17x-3)over x^2y(4x^2+4x+1) then i need to end up with something like (2x-?)(x+?) over (?+?)(?+?)

Question 27970: I have been hitting and missing on most of the online tutorials and I need some interaction with a human for a better understanding of division of the following
2x^2 + 5x – 12/ 9x^2 – 16 ÷ 2x^2 – 7x + 6/3x^2 – x – 4
in this case would I subtract the 2x^2 from the 9x^2 etc and simplify this before doing the division?

Question 28055: Rewrite this formula by factoring out the greatest common factor on the right hand side.
A=P+Prt
I came up with P(r+t) but I do not think this is right when you multiply it out to check it does not come out to the original problem.

Question 28586: Please help me with solving this question below. It is in my algebra review test:
Find the missing polynomial:
(4x^2 - 3x + 2) - (x^2 + x + 2) + (?) = 5x^2 + 3x -2
so you would take the brackets away, but according to the distributive property, you would have to reverse the signs on the variables in the second brackets. thus:
4x^2 - 3x + 2 - x^2 -x -2 + (?) = 5x^2 + 3x - 2
then you group the like variables together right?:
3x^2 + 4x + (?) = 5x^2 + 3x -2
now i'm stuck, because i dont know what ONE variable will make the statement true. The answers in the back of my book say that the answer to this question is 2x^2 + 7x -2, which confuses me, because i thought that the question was asking for one missing variable... Am i reading the question wrong or am i not doing the question right?

Question 28800: I've tried to work this out, I have one answer to the solution set, and I thought I had the others, but according to the answers in the back of the book, I don't! I was wondering if you can help.
(Solve each polynomial equation by factoring and then using the zero-product principle) 2x-3=8x(cubed)-12x(squared)
I set it to zero--- 8x(cubed)-12x(squared)-2x+3=0 I then factored by grouping.
(8x(cubed)-12x(squared)) (-2x+3) In the first set, I factored out a -4x(squared) leaving the equation like so.... -4x(squared)(-2x+3) and then the other set, I just set to zero like so....-2x+3=0.
The first equation I set -4x(squared) to zero....-4x(squared)=0, divided by -4 leaving x(squared)=-4 the other set I did the following.... I subtracted 3 from both sides, leaving -2x=-3. I then divided by -2 on bothe sides leaving x=-3/-2, giving me the set of 3/2. According to the book, this is coorect, the other set is where I'm confused. -4x(squared)=0, I divided -4 on both sides leaving x(squared)=0, then I'm not sure what to do! The answers in the back of the book, says the solution set is (-1/2, 1/2, and 3/2)
