Question 27358: We have had extreme trouble with this one. There are four of us and each of us comes up with a different polynomial to the fourth degree. Here it is: We have a circle (x-1)^2 + y^2 = 8 intersected by the parabola y = 1/4(x-1)^2 + 1. The question wants us to find the points of intersection between the parabola and the circle. We can see by the graph that the parabola intersects the circle at (-1,2) and (3,2) but we are having trouble with the actual equation. We know that we need to substitute and get this equation: (x-1)^2 + [1/4(x-1)^2 + 1]^2 = 8. This is where we are having troubles with simplifying the polynomial - we all get a different polynomial to the fourth degree. Can someone help? We would really appreciate a step-by-step to see where we are going wrong.

Question 27471: Geometry. A triangle has sides 3x + 7, 4x - 9, and 5x + 6. Find the polynomial that represents its perimeter.

Question 27476: Any assistance you could offer would be great. I am supposed to factor out the greatest common factor and simplify factors if possible. I think the greatest common factor is 5-x^2, but am not not sure where to go from there.
3(5-x)^4+2(5-x)^3-(5-x)^2

Question 27574: The section I am doing is Solving Rational Equations.
The problem is 2/x+1 = 1/x-2. This is how I've tried it making the LCD (x+1)(x-1). Then I see how many times the numerator goes into the denominator. I multiply the numerator by the denominator that it doesn't have already. For example I'd multiply 2 by x-2. "/" That I use as a division bar. The answer in the back of my book says 5. I would just like this problem done so I can do the rest!
