Question 23309: i am homeschooling my daughter and i need help explaining a problem to her i have the answers and how it is worked but dont understand how they get it.
the problem is c^4-d^4 by c-d in the problem the teachers manuel explains it but it also adds some other things to the problem like this
c-d then inside the division box is c^4+oc^3d+oc^2d^2+0cd^3-d^4 why all the zero's and where do they come from?

Question 23425: Alright. So Math is definately not my thing. I always have trouble in math, no matter how hard I try I cannot do it. So lately I have been asking for help from my friends. When i get frustrated I say "Just gimme the answer!!" I think part of my problem is that I have become so mad that math is my only troublesome subject, that I have given up on it. We are now leaaring 'transforming formulas.' Ex.) l = a +(n - 1)d ; n ** You solve for n or something. I don't know. I hope someone can help.

I'm getting way confused carrying this on... is it the right thing to be doing or will I be spinning my wheels on this path???

Question 24410: Hi I am a mother of a pre-algebra student and I am having a problem helping her with this word problem.
You are given $100 and need to buy cats, dogs and mice which also must equal 100. Cats cost $1.00, Dogs cost $15.00 and mice cost $.25. All the money must be gone and you have to use each animal at least once.

Question 24564: Factoring Polynomials. I had a horrible Algebra II teacher last year and learned almost nothing that i was supposed to because of it. I dont think I am very good at factoring. This is for College Algebra. I am dually enrolled in high school and a community college. The directions say to factor out, relative to the integers, all factors common to all terms. The problem is..
2w(y-2z)-y(y-2Z) I went ahead and simplified the problem, believing that to be the right thing to do. I got..2wy-4wz-y^2+2yz The answer is..(2w-x)(y-2z)
