x^2 + x - 2 / x^2 - 1 =
My final answer is (x+2) / (x + 1) I have conflicting answers from one of my fellow students. Could you please help?

: Simplify the complex fraction.
3/a+3 +1 divided by 9/a-3 +1
I tried multiplying both the numerator and denomiator by a+3, but then I didn't know what to do with the a-3 on the bottom. I think the +1 cancels out, and 3 can be divided into botht he 3 and 9, but I'm just not sure how to continue. Thanks.

i have got this so far as my answer but it is not coming out to the right answer in the back of the book
x-3 over (x+5)(x+5) plus x-3(x+5) over x+5(x+5)
which = x^2+5x-3x-15 over (x+5)^2

When I solved the problem the first time I got 2x+1 but that did not look right then when I tried to solve it a second time I seperated them into two problems.
-4x over 2 plus 8 over 2 = 2x.
Which is the correct way to solve this problem? I am very confused:(

Question 58295: I am confused how to solve (-12z^4y^2)/ (-2z^10y^3)
I set it up like you would long division but it does not look right to me. Also do decending powers of z and y apply here? ( do I have to add 0z^9, Oz^8 etc. in order to solve this problem?)
My teacher makes these questions up so there is no book reference. This is for our chapter review. Thank you in advance for showing me how to go about tackling this problem.
