Question 997504: what is the percentage difference between 25,000 and 35,000?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
it depends on which is the original value and which is the revised value.
the difference is the same.
35000 - 25000 = 10000
25000 - 35000 = -10000
35000 is 10000 more than 25000
25000 is 10000 less than 35000
if 25000 is the original value, then 35000 / 25000 = 1.4 * 100% = 140%.
this means that 35000 is 140% of 25000.
take away 100% and it is 40% greater than 25000.
40% greater means that you multiply 25000 * .4 and add it to 25000 to get 10000 + 25000 = 35000.
if 35000 is the original value, then 25000 / 35000 = .7142857143 * 100% = 71.43%.
this means that 25000 is 71.53% of 35000.
take away 100% and it is -28.57% greater than 35000.
this means that it is 28.57% smaller than 35000.
28.57% smaller means that you multiply 35000 * .2857 and subtract that from 35000 to get 25000.
35000 * .2857 = 10000 subtracted from 35000 = 25000.
any differences are due to rounding, since .2857 is a rounded version of .2857142857.
i used the unrounded version to get 10,000.
35000 * .2857 would have gotten me 9999.5 which is close to 10000 but no cigar.
