Question 975537: Divide.
8
8x
_____________
3
2X
I tried to type this out as best as I could using exponents. The 8 and 3 are suppose to be above the x. I am not sure how to show this for the example. Could I please get step by step instructions as well as a solution in order to help me with this?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use "^" for exponents.
Not clear what I am dividing, but
8*x^8/2*x^3
If this is correct, then you divide the coefficients 8 and 2 to get 4
x^8/x^3 is subtracting exponents, and you get x^5
Answer is 4 x^5
x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x/x*x*x*x*x
You can cancel the x s and see why subtracting exponents works in these problems.
