Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2/5 - y/(y-2)
You need a common denominator (lcm):
lcm = 5(y-2)
---------
Rewrite each fraction with the lcm as its denominator.
(2(y-2)/lcm - (y(5))/lcm
Combine the numerators over the lcm:
= [2y-4-5y]/lcm
Simplify to get:
= [-3y-4]/[5(y-2)]

Stan H.
