Question 963426: Adam ran a 15-kilometer race. He completed the race in 1.6 hours. Adam’s speed for the first kilometer can be represented by the function d = 9.2h, where d is distance in kilometers and h is time in hours. Distance=rate x time, so for the first kilometer Adams rate was 9.2 km/hr.
For the entire race, his rate was 15km/1.6 hrs=9.375 km/hr, so his average for the entire race was faster than his rate for the first kilometer
