3x+9 + 5x-4 = 8x+5 = 53

P=2(L+W)
106=2(3x+9+5x-4) Divide each side by 2
53=8x+5 Subtract 5 from each side.
48=8x Divide each side by 8.
6=x
W=5x-4=5(6)-4=30-4=26 ANSWER: The width is 26 units.

L=3x+9=3(6)+9=18+9=27 The length is 27 units
P=2(L+W)
