IF YOU MEAN 2A^2-4A-2 THEN
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION BELOW WE GET:

X=(4+-SQRT[-4^2*-4*2*-2])/2^2
X=(4+-SQRT[16+16])/4
X=(4+-SQRT32)/4
X=(4+-5.66)/4
X=(4+5.66)/4
X=9.66/4
X=2.415 ANSWER.
X=(4-5.66)/4
X=-1.66/4
X=-.415 ANSWER.
