Question 91688: How do you solve this equation?
(2/7x)-(1/2)=(2/3)(4x-1)

(2/7x)-(1/2)=(2/3)(4x-1)
:
If you mean (2/7)x - (1/2) = (2/3)(4x-1), its pretty easy
:
Multiply equation by 42 to get rid of the denominators (7*2*3), then you have
12x - 21 = 28(4x - 1)
:
12x - 21 = 112x - 28
:
12x - 112x = -28 + 21
:
-100x = -7
:
x = -7/-100 = +7/100
:
x = +.07; decimal easier to check for equality in the original equation
:
However, if you meant the 1st term to be it becomes a different
problem, you must mult by 42x to get rid of the denominator, and it becomes
a quadratic equation. Let me know if this is what you mean.
