Answer by swincher4391(1107)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = 3y
1/x + 1/y = 4

1/(3y) + 1/y = 4
1/(3y) + (3)/(3y) = 4
(1+3)/(3y) = 4
4/(3y) = 4
4 = 12y
y = 1/3

x = (1/3)*3 = 1

1 and 1/3 are the numbers.
