Question 905070: can you help me answer this Factor using the ac-method.108x2 + 63xy + 9y2
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
108x^2 + 63xy + 9y^2
factor out 9
9(12x^2 + 7xy + 1y^2)
if the x and y intimidate you
leave out the y
12x^2 + 7x + 1)
factors of 12 which add up to 7
3 and 4
12x^2 + 3x +4x + 1)
3x*(4x+1)+1*(4x+1)
(3x+1) (4x+1)
Put the y's back in
(3x+y) (4x+y)
Don't forget the 9
9(3x+y) (4x+y)
check
12x^2+4xy+3xy+y^2
9*12x^2+7xy+y^2
108x^2+63xy+9y^2
ok
