solve by completing the square
2x^2+8x-5=0
Complete the square on the x-terms and keep the equation balanced
2(x^2+4x+4) = 5+2*4
Factor the left side and simplify the right
2(x+2)^2 = 13
(x+2)^2 = 13/2
Take the square root of both sides and rationalize the denominator on the right.
(x+2) = sqrt26/2 or x+2 = -sqrt26/2
x = -2+ sqrt26/2 or x = -2-sqrt26/2
