t^2+2tj-35j^2
--------------
Factoring is trial and error.
What you need for this one is a pair of factors of 35 that differ by 2.
Not a hard one.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t^2+2tj-35j^2
factor the trinomial
------
Using the AC Method::
A = 1 ; B = 2 ; C = -35
-----
B = +7 -5
-------
Replace B by 7tj - 5tj = 2tj
-------
t^2 +7tj -5tj - 35j^2
-----
Factor the 1st 2 and the last 2 terms separately::
= t(t+7j)-5j(t+7j)
----
Factor again to get the final answer::
= (t+7j)(t-5j)
