(x-5) / (x^2 - 16)
undefined?
-----------------------
It is undefined when the denominator equals zero.
When is that?
x^2-16 = 0 when x = 4 or x = -4.

The expression would be undefined if you had a zero in the denominator.
Assuming that the expression is:
