Question 86298: I have a question that states: use long division to divide (2x^2+6x^3-10-8x)/(2x+2). Can anyone walk me through this one so that I can do the remaining 5?
Answer by scianci(186) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2x^2+6x^3-10-8x)/(2x+2)
Divide everything by 2:
(x^2+3x^3-5-4x)/(x+1)
Rearrange in descending powers:
Use synthetic division:
-1 3 1 -4 -5
-3 2 2
3 -2 -2 -3
The quotient is 3 - 2x - 2 and the remainder is -3.
Give the answer as: 3 - 2x - 2 -
