it uses the LCD method as you requested.
it there's anything in there that confuses you, let me know and i'll explain as best I can.
the denominator that looks like yy is really xy.
just some sloppy handwriting on my part.
the LCD was xy for both the numerator and the denominator.

the other method is to find the LCD of the overall fraction.
In this problem, that turns out to be the same LCD.
