The 2.4x and the 1.2x are like terms, so you can combine them by subtraction. So 2.4x - 1.2x = 1.2x.
Now you've got 1.2x = 4.8. All you have to do is take the 4.8 and divide by 1.2 to get your answer. In this case, x = 4.
