Stacy wants to build a triangular sand box for her son. Using the figure below, calculate the area of the triangular box, writing the answer as a polynomial.
(Hint: A=1/2bh)
x+2(height)
2x+6(base)
Calculations:
1/2(2x + 6)(x + 2) =
1/2(2x^2 + 4x + 6x + 12) =
1/2(2x^2+ 10x +12) =
x^2 + 5x + 6
Answer: x^2 + 5x + 6
