Hello there,
In order to multiply or divide polynominals, you must first factor.
In your fraction: (x^2 - 3x- 54)/(x - 9), you cannot factor (x - 9), but you certainly can factor (x^2 - 3x - 54).
I'll let you work out the factoring.
Meanwhile, a sample problem:
(x + 5x + 6)/(x + 2) = (x + 3)(x + 2)/(x + 2) = (x + 3)
