Replace the constant term by an unknown constant, c
x%5E2+-+24x+%2B+c
What would c have to be for the expression to be a perfect square?
It would have to be %28-24+%2F+2%29%5E2, or 144
then, c = 144 and
x%5E2+-+24x+%2B+144+=+%28x+-+12%29%5E2
So, x%5E2+-+24x+%2B+48 is not a perfect square
