SOLUTION: What are the real or imaginary solutions of the polynomial equation?
x^4-20x^2+64=0
My Work
x^2(x^2-20+64)
x^2(x-16)(x-4)
Now I am stuck

Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2(x-16)(x-4) = 0
we want values of x so the left hand side = 0
So we need to solve
x^2 = 0
x-16 = 0
and
x-4 = 0
Take x^2 = 0
x = 0 is the solution here.
Take x-16 = 0
subtract 16 from each side
x = 16
Take x-4 = 0
subtract 4 from each side
x = 4
so the possible values for x are 0, 16, and 4
