Question:

2x^2 + 3 = 7x

Answer:

2x^2 + 3 = 7x

2x^2 + 3 - 7x = 7x - 7x , subtract 7x from both sides.

==> 2x^2 - 7x + 3 = 0

Now split the middle term, that is -7x.

For that find two numbers whose sum is -7(that is coefficient of x ) and their product is 6 (that is 2* 3 )

Such two numbers are -6 and -1

==> 2x^2 -6x - 1x + 3 = 0

Now group the terms

==> 2x ( x - 3 ) - ( x-3) = 0

==> (x - 3 )( 2x - 1) = 0

==> Either (x - 3 ) = 0 or (2x - 1 ) = 0

==> x = 3 or 2x = 1

==> x = 3 or x = 1/2

These are the solutions of the given polinomial.

Hope you understood.
