SOLUTION: This is in the factoring chapter. When I apply the distributive property, than combine like terms, I'm not getting the right answer.
a(b-4) -c(b-4)
a*b= ab, a*-4=4a
-c*b=

a(b-4) -c(b-4)
a*b= ab, a*-4=4a
-c*b=-cb, -c*-4=4c now it's ab-4a-cb+4c and took out the parenthsis
I don't really have any like terms, so wouldn't this be the answer?
The book says the answer is (b-4)(a-c). I can't get to this.
And the instuctions for this section say "factor each polynomial completely"
So am I suppose to factor?
