=
(-2)(x+2)=3x [cross-multiply]
-2x-4=3x [solve for the x-term]
-2x+3x-4=3x-3x
-5x-4+4=0+4
-5x=4
-5x/-5=4/-5
x=-4/5
.
check by plugging x=-4/5 or x=-.8 back into the original equation.
