Question 767466: I am having a hard time solving the following problem. Solve the polynomial inequality and express the solution set in interval notation.
x^3+x^2+36x+36<0
What is solution set?
Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the polynomial inequality and express the solution set in interval notation.
x^3+x^2+36x+36<0
x^2(x+1)+36(x+1)<0
(x+1)(x^2+36)<0
zeros:
x+1=0
x=-1
..
x^2+36=0
x^2=±√-36=±6i (not a real number, so it does not appear on the number line)
number line
<.....-.....-1....+......>
solution:
(-∞,-1)
