Question 76002: Hi, um well i just finished taking a test on polynomials and i was stumped on one question and it was like 4x(cubed) + 3x(squared) + 2x + 1. so the question was is the degree and I put 3. To my understanding, i thought degree ment the highest exponent in a polynomial. Am I correct or wrong??

You're right is a third degree polynomial, however the degree is the highest of the combined exponents of a term in the polynomial.

For instance } is a 6 degree polynomial because the first term has a combined exponent value of 4+2=6.
