x^2+5x-24

Answer by tutorcecilia(2152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2+5x-24
Factor 24(8*3; 12*2; 6*4) which factor when added or subtracted will equal 5x?
The combination of (8*3)will give 8+(-3)=5
.
x^2+8x-3x-24
(x+8)(x-3) [Use the FOIL method to check]
x^2-3x+8x-24
x^2+5x-24
